Diego Rivera: The Maverick Mastermind of Mexican Art, One of the 20th Century's Seminal Artists
Hello Everyone.
Diego Rivera - one of the most memorable, critically acclaimed, artists of the 20th-century.
He painted during a 50-year period from 1907 to 1957.
Although a Mexican by birth, he spent a good portion of his adult life in Europe and the United States.
In Paris he did what many Mexican artists did they studied art.
But when he returned to Mexico City he developed his own style, rooted deeply in Mexican history and the lives of everyday peasants.
Rivera - leader of the Mexican mural movement - brought art to everyday Mexicans by creating large-scale works on public walls many of which I have had the privilege of seeing, including his other dramatic pieces in museums throughout Mexico.
WOW! This guy is excellent. His artwork is very moving.
Good stuff. I especially like the calla lily motif. I wrote a poem about one of the flower vendor painting on my Substack, if you're interested.
