How did he become known as the Picasso of the North?
Hello Everyone:
40 years of collecting Art, building a great collection. Now I am sharing artists that have made it, artists that are on the verge of making it.
Norval Morrisseau is considered by many to be the grandfather of contemporary indigenous Canadian art.
He was the creator of the Woodland School of Art - characterized by a bold visual style, capturing stylized animals, spirits and the earth.
Self taught, his first art show in 1962 in Toronto created a stir in the art world.
Dubbed the Picasso of the North, Morrisseau was a prolific painter.
